Penfield Business Association
First Annual Golf Tournament Benefits Shepherd Home

Over 100 golfers came out to Penfield Country Club for the first annual golf tournament sponsored by Penfield Business Association. Everyone enjoyed the glorious weather and fabulous golf.  Family First Federal Credit Union was the title sponsor and had a foursome golfing as well. Play started at 12:30 after a fantastic lunch sponsored by Don's Original. The day's festivities continued with a fantastic dinner and live auction.  Our sincerest thanks goes to Penfield Business Association and all of the sponsors, commiteee and volunteers who made this event such a success!

Paetec Golf Fundraiser

A group from Paetec held a golf tournament on Saturday, September 17 at Brockport Country Club. The organizing committtee chose Shepherd Home to receive the proceeds from this event in which about 100 golfers participated.

We are very grateful to have been designated to be the recipient of the funds raised by this exciting event. Mike Trippany, one of the organizers, suggested Shepherd Home to the committee after witnessing the excellent care his uncle received here in 2010.

Thank you, Paetec!

Ray & Shelley's Wedding 2011

July 2011

Wedding of the Century!

Wednesday July 13 was a very special day at Shepherd Home. We hosted a wedding ceremony in our gardens! Shelley, one of our residents, told her nurse that she and her husband Ray eloped more than 30 years ago. They've been very happy together, but they always missed having a formal ceremony with their family and friends. The nurse said, "Why not now?" and with those words the gears were set in motion. In less than a week the Shepherd Home staff, lots of volunteers, several local businesses, and friends and family pulled everything together for a wonderful wedding and celebration.

2011 B&W Ball

It’s the event all of us look forward to every spring! This year's annual gala fundraiser was the “Black and White Ball”  at the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa on April 9, 2011.

Special thanks to everyone who participated, including our sponsors: Baker Commodities Inc., Excellus, Maplewood Nursing and Rehabilitation, Family First Federal Credit Union, MRB Group and John Betlem Heating and Cooling. It was an exciting evening of delicious food, dancing and entertainment.

Michael Bruce was the auctioneer for bidding on many exciting auction items, including a week in sunny Fort Myers, two nights at Sunrise Landing B&B on gorgeous Seneca Lake and much more. Congratulations to Bob Schwab who purchased the winning raffle tickets for our popular Tower of Wine. Betty and Roger Quinn, longtime Shepherd Home supporters, served as our honorary 2011 Ball chairpersons.

Revenues from this event raise a significant portion of our Shepherd Home's annual operating expenses. This year we broke previous records with more than 210 people attending!

Euchre Fun Night, February 11

Even more fun than dogs playing poker is an evening of euchre at the Penfield Country Club!  This event on February 11, 2011 was a great time for our Shepherd Home friends to share dinner, cards, a 50/50 raffle, and lots of prizes.

Check our calendar for future fun Euchre Nights.
